After work today, I’m hopping on an airplane and going to Phoenix.
Have you ever been meaning to do something but always found some reason to put it off, and all of a sudden it’s eight years later and you still haven’t done what you were supposed to do?
I told my uncle during my freshman year of college that I would find a time to come out and visit him. It seemed like a reasonable goal. I was a student so I had long winter and even longer summer breaks; I figured I’d surely find some time to go visit. But I always had swim practice over winter break and I worked all summer (plus who wants to visit Phoenix in July?) so I never made it out there.
Well, Southwest Airlines had a sale a few weeks ago and I realized I could fly Dallas to Phoenix round trip for about $140 after taxes and all fees, so I jumped. That’s right, I’m eight years late but I’m gonna do it! It’s only a weekend trip and I’m sure it will go by way too fast, but I’m finally making good on my word and going to visit my uncle.
Anyway, We are going hiking. I’m gonna check out the Musical Instruments Museum and try to learn something about being a musician. We are going to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, where I hope to learn about architecture and figure out what the heck a Taliesin is. Then I’m gonna grab a burger at Greasewood Flat.
Then mix in some quality time with my uncle, aunt and cousin, and a little holiday party extravaganza, and it’s gonna be one heck of a weekend.
The only thing that could put a damper on this weekend would be getting stopped at a routine traffic stop and having to provide my papers. Don’t worry, I’ll bring my passport.
Have a great weekend and I’ll be back with some great vlog material from Phoenix and a new blog post on Monday or Tuesday.
P.S. Last night I broke 200,000 in the Alexa rankings! It was a big milestone for my blog and I can’t wait to keep bringing that number down. Thank you to everyone who has been reading and supporting me! I love you all so much!

I bid you an early welcome. Oh, and we don’t ride cacti in Phoenix, that would just be silly. We do encourage our guests to, however. Because they’re so soft and cuddly.
Have fun! 8 years late is not that bad, slow and steady wins the race right? 😀
The MIM is right around the corner from me, and I’ve never been, and my husband is a musician, we are such losers. But I have been to Taliesin, it is my favorite place on earth, or at least in Phoenix.
They were all great! I really recommend the MIM, it was a lot of fun. I had no idea 3 hours had passed while I was in there!
Isn’t the saying “better late than never”. 🙂
